In most states, yes. The majority now license behavior analysts separately (commonly LBA or LABA), and payers increasingly require it. Certification is national; licensure is state by state, so plan for both when you move.

What caseload should a BCBA expect?

It varies by setting and payer mix. Center-based roles are usually quoted as a client count, in-home roles as billable hours per week. Ask for both numbers plus the supervision ratio before you accept; it tells you more about the job than the salary does.

Can BCBA work be remote?

Partly. Telehealth supervision, parent training and program writing are routinely remote, while assessments and overlaps usually are not. Fully remote BCBA roles exist but are a small share of the market.
