Terms of Service
Last updated: 28/08/2026
1. About Our Service
Important: Referral Service Only
Take a Seat Ltd is a referral and introduction service only. We connect you with independent, self-employed therapists and clinical professionals but do not provide therapy, clinical services, or medical advice directly. All therapeutic relationships, contracts, and fees are between you and your chosen practitioner.
By accessing or using Take a Seat's services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.
2. Description of Service
Take a Seat is an online platform that introduces clients to qualified UK mental health professionals. Our services include:
- Facilitating introductions between clients and therapists
- Providing screening tools to help identify potential support needs
- Coordinating assessment booking requests on behalf of independent clinicians
- Providing information and resources about mental health and neurodivergence
We do not employ therapists, provide clinical supervision, or control the services they offer. Each therapist operates independently and is responsible for their own practice.
3. Your Relationship with Therapists
When you engage with a therapist through our platform:
- Your therapeutic relationship and any contract for services is directly with the therapist
- The therapist sets their own fees, cancellation policies, and terms of service
- The therapist is responsible for their own professional conduct and clinical decisions
- The therapist becomes the data controller for clinical information shared during therapy
- Any complaints about therapy services should be directed to the therapist and their professional body
4. User Responsibilities
As a user of our platform, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Use the service only for lawful purposes
- Understand that our screening tools are not diagnostic and do not replace professional assessment
- Make your own informed decisions about engaging with therapists
5. Therapist Standards
We endeavour to list therapists who are:
- Qualified mental health professionals
- Registered with recognised UK professional bodies (e.g. BACP, UKCP, BPS, HCPC)
- Holding appropriate professional indemnity insurance
- Committed to ethical practice guidelines
However, we do not supervise, employ, or control the therapists on our platform. We recommend you verify their credentials and ensure they are a good fit for your needs.
6. Assessments
When you book an assessment through our platform:
- Assessments are conducted by independent, qualified clinicians
- We facilitate the booking but do not conduct assessments ourselves
- Assessment fees and cancellation policies are set by the clinician
- The clinician is responsible for the assessment process, diagnosis, and any recommendations
7. Emergency Situations
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Our platform is not intended for emergency mental health situations. If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please:
- Call 999 (UK emergency services)
- Contact Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7)
- Visit your nearest A&E department

8. Limitation of Liability

- Does not guarantee the suitability of any therapist for your needs
- Is not liable for any actions, omissions, or decisions made by therapists
- Is not responsible for technical issues beyond our reasonable control
